Capanna Mara: a classic hiking destination in the Triangolo Lariano
This guide is part of UTLAC’s Area section and is intended for people arriving at Lake Como to race, accompany an athlete, or turn the event into an opportunity to discover the area as a family.
Capanna Mara is one of the names that best tells the story of the mountains of the Triangolo Lariano: trails, ridges, a refuge, woodland, and wide openings onto the landscape. For the Area section, it is a very important stop because it gives depth to the story of the Como branch and the connection toward Lecco and Bellagio.
It is not a place for a quick visit. It is a place to walk, to experience with proper footwear and enough time. Precisely for this reason, however, it has great value for the trail-running public and for families used to spending time in the mountains.
