UTLAC Trail 2027 General Rules
Art. 1 INTRODUCTION, EVENT, AND RULES STRUCTURE
Larius SSDRL, headquartered in Lecco, Viale Turati 123, organizes UTLAC Trail 2027, a mountain trail and ultra-trail event comprising the following five competitive races:
- UTLAC 250
- UTLAC 120
- UTLAC 60
- UTLAC 30
- UTLAC 15
These GENERAL RULES establish the rules common to every race in the UTLAC Trail 2027 event.
Each race is also governed by its own SPECIFIC RULES, which set out its technical and organizational characteristics, including route, distance and elevation gain, elevations, start times, maximum time and cut-offs, mandatory and recommended gear, aid stations and life bases, logistics, included services, entry fees, and every other rule applicable to that race.
The General Rules and the Specific Rules for the selected race must be read and accepted together and, together with the Organization's official communications, constitute the rules applicable to the participant.
Where a technical or operational matter specific to one race differs, that race's Specific Rules prevail; these General Rules apply to general matters common to all distances.
Art. 2 ORGANIZATION AND VALUES
The UTLAC Trail event is organized by Larius SSDRL, headquartered in Lecco, Viale Turati 123, with the support of the bodies, institutions, associations, sponsors, and partners named in the individual Specific Rules and in the event's official communications.
Runners, volunteers, the Organization, and its partners share the principles of fairness, respect for people, respect for nature, sharing, and solidarity. The rules apply equally to all participants. Every runner must respect the environment, local residents, volunteers, and other athletes, and help anyone in difficulty.
Art. 3 GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
UTLAC races are open to adult athletes who meet the requirements of these General Rules and of the Specific Rules for the selected distance.

- To request a distance change, write to info@utlactrail.com.
ELITE ATHLETES AND WILD CARDS
- For a UTLAC Trail 2027 wild-card request, Elite athletes are athletes with an ITRA General Performance Index (PI) above 825 points for men and above 700 points for women, according to the Elite category indicated by ITRA.
- Athletes meeting these thresholds may request a wild card by writing to info@utlactrail.com.
- A wild card is not automatic and does not confer a right to free or priority registration.
- The Organization reviews each request individually, considering Performance Index, sporting record, selected distance, bib availability, and sporting and organizational needs.
- In justified cases, athletes of particular sporting interest who do not meet the above thresholds may also be considered.
- The terms of any wild card will be communicated directly to the athlete.
Art. 5 COMPETITIVE MEDICAL CERTIFICATION
To take part in every competitive UTLAC race, a COMPETITIVE SPORTS FITNESS MEDICAL CERTIFICATE valid on race day, compliant with Ministerial Decree of February 18, 1982 and current Italian law, is mandatory.
COMPETITIVE sports medical certificates issued for endurance sports disciplines included in TABLE B of Ministerial Decree of February 18, 1982 (Rules for the health protection of competitive sports activity) are accepted. The certificate must expressly attest fitness for competitive sports.
THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT VALID and will not be accepted:
- general-health certificates or certificates of sound and robust constitution;
- certificates for non-competitive sports activity;
- certificates for high cardiovascular-commitment activity under Ministerial Decree of April 24, 2013, as they concern non-competitive activity;
- self-certifications, substitute declarations, or other documents that do not attest the required competitive fitness.
RUNNERS RESIDING IN ITALY, REGARDLESS OF NATIONALITY
- They must hold a competitive sports medical certificate issued in Italy under current Italian law and valid on race day.
ITALIAN RUNNERS NOT RESIDING IN ITALY
- They must have competitive sports fitness valid on race day and compliant with Italian-law requirements.
- They may provide a competitive sports medical certificate issued in Italy or have a doctor complete, stamp, and sign the MEDICAL CERTIFICATION FORM FOR FOREIGN ATHLETES / FOREIGN MEDICAL CERTIFICATION made available by the Organization.
- The form must attest competitive fitness for an endurance discipline covered by Table B of the Ministerial Decree of February 18, 1982 and completion of examinations required by Italian law.
RUNNERS NOT RESIDING IN ITALY AND NOT OF ITALIAN NATIONALITY
- They must have competitive sports fitness certification valid on race day and compliant with Italian-law requirements.
- They must have a doctor in their country complete, stamp, and sign the MEDICAL CERTIFICATION FORM FOR FOREIGN ATHLETES / FOREIGN MEDICAL CERTIFICATION made available by the Organization, available at this link: medical certification form (PDF).
- The form must attest competitive fitness for an endurance discipline covered by Table B of the Ministerial Decree of February 18, 1982 and completion of examinations required by Italian law.
- The form must be completed in full and uploaded to WEDOSPORT by the deadline stated by the Organization.
- The form completed by the doctor is not a runner self-certification and does not validate general-health certificates, certificates for non-competitive activity, or other certifications not compliant with the above requirements.
DEADLINE AND VALIDITY
- The certificate, or the above medical form for non-resident runners using that option, must be uploaded to WEDOSPORT by the Organization's stated deadline and be valid on race day.
- Failure to provide compliant and valid medical documentation prevents bib collection and race participation and gives no right to a refund from the Organization.
Art. 6 WITHDRAWAL, REFUNDS, AND WEDOSPORT INSURANCE
GENERAL RULE
Once registration is complete, the participation fee is non-refundable by the Organization in the event of withdrawal, injury, illness, personal impediment, or non-participation by the athlete.
Unless otherwise communicated by the Organization and subject to mandatory law, the Organization will not refund the fee even if a race is suspended, interrupted, or canceled due to weather, authority orders, or other force majeure.
OPTIONAL WEDOSPORT NON-PARTICIPATION INSURANCE
When registering online through WEDOSPORT, an athlete may purchase optional non-participation insurance at their own expense. When due, refunds are managed directly by the insurer, not by the UTLAC Organization.
The insurance currently offers two refund options:
- OPTION 1 – 100% REFUND WITH DOCUMENTATION: full refund of the insured fee upon suitable documentation proving inability to participate. The claim must be filed within the policy terms and, under WEDOSPORT's currently stated conditions, within 5 days of the event causing the impediment and no later than 48 hours before race start.
- OPTION 2 – 70% REFUND WITHOUT DOCUMENTATION: partial refund for any reason, without supporting documentation. The claim must be filed no later than 48 hours before race start.
Without WEDOSPORT insurance, the Organization provides no refund, credit, or registration deferral for non-participation, except for transfer of entry and distance change within the terms and procedures in Art. 4.
Procedures, cost, conditions, exclusions, percentages, and deadlines are those set out in the WEDOSPORT policy purchased by the athlete and prevail if amended.

Art. 7 BIB COLLECTION
Bib collection locations and times are stated in the race's Specific Rules. A valid ID and, where required, mandatory gear must be shown to collect the bib.
Another person may collect a bib with a plain written authorization signed by the runner and accompanied by a copy of the authorizing runner's ID. The bib is personal and cannot be transferred or exchanged outside the entry-transfer procedure in Art. 4.
Art. 8 MANDATORY AND RECOMMENDED GEAR
Mandatory and recommended gear is defined for each distance in its Specific Rules. The Organization may require additional items or devices based on weather, environmental, or safety conditions, notifying athletes accordingly.
Gear may be checked at bib collection and at the start. Random mandatory-gear checks may also be carried out on the route. Missing mandatory gear may result in refusal of the bib, a penalty, or disqualification.
Art. 9 SEMI-SELF-SUFFICIENCY, AID STATIONS, AND RACE ASSISTANCE
The races are run in semi-self-sufficiency. Each athlete must be self-sufficient between two aid stations for food, water reserves, equipment, and safety, according to the quantities and requirements in the Specific Rules.
Only runners with a visible bib may enter aid stations. Littering is prohibited and, where required, a personal cup or bottle must be used.
Family or team assistance is permitted only at points designated by the Organization and, unless otherwise stated in the Specific Rules, only one assistant per athlete is allowed. Accompaniment on the course is prohibited, except for the Pacer system expressly governed for UTLAC 250.
Art. 10 MAXIMUM TIMES, CUT-OFFS, WITHDRAWALS, AND FITNESS TO CONTINUE
Maximum times, cut-offs, and recovery arrangements are stated in the Specific Rules. An athlete who chooses to withdraw must promptly notify the Organization and follow race-staff instructions.
Except in a medical emergency, withdrawal must take place at the points stated in the Specific Rules. A person voluntarily leaving the route outside those points may be required to arrange their own return, while still being required to notify the Organization of the withdrawal.
Medical and health staff may stop a runner when they consider it unsafe to continue. The runner must comply with their instructions.
Art. 11 ROUTE, MARKING, AND NAVIGATION
Every runner must follow the official route of their race in full, without cutting the course or taking shortcuts. Marking arrangements and any GPS-navigation requirement are stated in the Specific Rules.
The Organization may modify the route for safety, authorization, or environmental reasons. The GPS track and official communications published before the race are the operational reference for runners.
Art. 12 TIMING, CHIP, AND LIVE TRACKING
The timing system and any live-tracking service are stated in the race Specific Rules. Devices supplied by the Organization or service provider must be used according to the instructions received and returned where required.
Art. 13 SAFETY AND RESCUE
Officials, volunteers, and medical staff operate on the route in contact with the race organization. Mountain Rescue and other emergency services intervene under safety procedures and in cases of actual need.
The runner must promptly report dangerous situations, injuries, or withdrawals using the numbers and channels shown on the bib or at the briefing. Rescue interventions requested without actual need may be charged to the runner where provided by rules or competent authorities.
Art. 14 ENVIRONMENT
Runners must behave respectfully toward the environment, avoiding littering, damage to vegetation, picking flowers, or disturbing wildlife. Littering along the route results in disqualification, in addition to any penalties imposed by competent authorities.
To reduce environmental impact, disposable cups are not guaranteed at aid stations; each athlete must use their own cup or bottle where required.
Art. 15 WEATHER, CHANGES, SUSPENSION, OR CANCELLATION
In adverse weather, impassable trails, authority orders, or other force majeure, the Organization may modify the route, schedules, or cut-offs, or suspend, interrupt, or cancel one or more races to protect participants, volunteers, and rescuers.
Changes will be communicated using available means. Financial consequences of any withdrawals or cancellations remain governed by these rules and, for those who purchased it, by WEDOSPORT policy conditions, which apply only to insured cases.
Art. 16 DISQUALIFICATIONS, PENALTIES, AND APPEALS
Grounds for disqualification include, among others: unauthorized exchange or transfer of a bib; failure to pass through a checkpoint; course-cutting; littering; failure to help a runner in difficulty; insults or threats to organizers or volunteers; refusal of a medical check; use of unauthorized assistance or accompaniment; serious breach of safety requirements or mandatory gear rules.
Penalties may be applied on the course or after the finish. Any appeal procedure will be communicated by Race Management.
Art. 17 HEALTH AND ANTI-DOPING POLICY
The event applies current health-protection and anti-doping rules. The runner must correctly provide required health information within the limits of law, report any use of medication subject to a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), and cooperate with medical staff and competent bodies in the event of checks.
Providing false information or unjustified refusal of legally required checks may lead to exclusion or disqualification. Health data are processed only for permitted purposes and with access limited to authorized persons.
Art. 18 IMAGE RIGHTS
By registering, within the limits allowed by applicable law and in accordance with the notice issued by the Organization, the participant authorizes free use of their image, name, and voice captured during the event for communication, reporting, promotion, and marketing of UTLAC Trail and its future editions, through print, websites, social networks, and other media.
Art. 19 LIABILITY DECLARATION AND AWARENESS OF RISKS
Voluntary registration and participation entail acceptance of the General Rules, Specific Rules, and official race communications. The runner declares that they understand the characteristics of the selected race and the risks normally associated with mountain trail running and consider their preparation adequate.
The participant is responsible for damage caused by their conduct and undertakes to comply with safety requirements. Any limitations or exclusions of the Organization's liability apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Art. 20 TOLERANCES AND VALIDITY OF PROVISIONS
Any tolerance by the Organization of a breach of the rules does not constitute a waiver of the right to enforce the relevant provisions later. The possible invalidity or ineffectiveness of an individual provision does not affect the validity of the remaining parts of these rules.
Art. 21 GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These rules are governed by Italian law. For any dispute, the jurisdiction criteria provided by current law apply; where validly agreed, the reference court is that of the registered office of the organizing company.
Art. 22 ORGANIZING COMPANY INSURANCE
The organizing company takes out the third-party liability insurance coverage required and deemed necessary for the event, without prejudice to any coverage connected with sports memberships and the limits established by the relevant policies.
Art. 23 PRIVACY
Personal data are processed for management of registration, participation, and services connected with the event according to the privacy notice available on the WEDOSPORT platform, which the participant must accept upon registration.
